ABOUT US
Our Purpose... is to reach people with the
Gospel message of Christ, to equip believers to grow in their faith, to
minister together, and to glorify God with our lives.
Our Vision... is
to be a vibrant local body of believers firmly rooted in and
transformed by God's Word striving together to challenge, influence,
and impact the people of Goodland area first, and ultimately the world,
with the Truth of God's Word and the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Our Core Values:
Lifting up:
We are committed to the
Lord:
Our passion is to be found
faithful in
serving the Lord. We are devoted to magnifying and exalting Him,
through the praise and prayer of the gathered body. (Ephesians 5:18-18;
John 14:13)
Growing in:
We are committed to God's
Word:
Our passion is to
faithfully proclaim
the Word of God, in teaching and preaching, as well as in practice.
We
are devoted to an exegetical understanding of the inerrant, inspired,
complete, and literal Word of God. (Acts 5:42; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter
1:21)
We are committed to prayer
and worship:
Our passion is to exalt the
name of the Lord in worship and come before our Master's feet in prayer.
We are committed to people:
Our passion is to equip all
believers
to establish strong spiritual lives. In order to, establish
strong
godly families. This is practiced through fellowship and
edification
of God's people. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:46-47; 1 Timothy
3:1-16;
Hebrews 10:19-25)
Reaching out:
We are committed to local
and global evangelism:
Our passion is to reach our
neighbors,
who matter to the Lord, with the Gospel. Our pattern is the book
of
Acts, as Antioch was started by the persecution in Jerusalem and other
churches were started by the missionary efforts of Antioch through the
apostle Paul. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:20)

History:
On New Year's Eve, December 31, 1967, a small group met for a
time of prayer and fellowship. Rev. Fred Dietz, then pastor of the
Pleasant Home Church north of Edson, announced that he felt God was
calling him to start a church in Goodland. All those present expressed
a desire and willingness to see such a work started and wanted to be a
part of it. A statement of faith was adopted and the meeting closed
with prayer. Our statement of faith reads: "We, the members of this
organization, do acknowledge the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New
Testaments as being the Word of God and our only infallible guide of
faith and practice." Thus the name of Goodland Bible Church came into
being.
In time, a parsonage was purchased and the Dietz family moved to
Goodland. Jim Gee, Max Tedford, and Elmer Purvis were chosen to be
trustees, and they along with Pastor Dietz began to get the necessary
papers in order.
The first services were held on March 17, 1968 in the Community Room of
the Goodland State Bank with 44 people in attendance. Later that month
services were moved to the American Legion Building and continued there
until August of 1973.
On March 12, 1972 a special fourth anniversary service was held with
ground-breaking ceremonies on the newly purchased building site in the
Rosewood addition. The first unit of the new building was started in
June 1973 and completed in August with Delmer Musil as contractor. In
June 1976 construction was started on the sanctuary with the first
service being held there in November. A dedication service was held on
January 19, 1977.
From 1975 until 1994, Goodland Bible Church also was home to the
Goodland Christian School where a good number of young people attended,
graduated and went on to greater things including missions work,
pastoral ministry, lay ministry, music and other Christ-honoring
activities.
Goodland Bible Church is located at 109 Willow Road, just east of
Goodland Regional Medical Center. Our
pastor is Chad DeJong, a graduate of Calvary Bible College of
Kansas City, Missouri.
